Masculine & feminine
المُذَكَّر والمُؤَنَّث
Most feminine words end in ة — and adjectives agree.
You will learn
- Form feminine nouns with ة
- Make adjectives agree
- Describe people and things
ة marks the feminine
Add ة (tāʾ marbūṭa, pronounced -a) to make many feminine nouns: طالِب → طالِبة (student m/f).
Adjectives follow and agree
The adjective comes AFTER the noun and matches its gender: بَيْت كَبِير (a big house), مَدْرَسة كَبِيرة (a big school).
- هِيَ طالِبة جَدِيدة — hiya ṭāliba jadīda — she is a new student
